CITY OF SEAMS: Vatnsmýri, Reykjavik, Iceland

City of Seams was an urban planning competition entry in collaboration with Ciotat Studio. Our proposal was inspired by Iceland's unique physical and spatial geology, introduced a new high-speed rail connection between the international airport and the city center, and amplified existing adjacent conditions with new and varied building programs. Our team was awarded a short-list prize for its reconsideration of this central and underdeveloped area of Reykjavik..

"Sophistication is not necessarily the product of highly developed machinery, nor intensive capital investment. It is more a way of using available equipment and resources with cunning and intelligence." —Reyner Banham, from The Architecture of the Well-tempered Environment
